Information Flow Architect

Job DescriptionThis is a year round position located in Bath Maine with onsite requirements.
The Information Flow Architect has the mandate to ensure the integrity and efficiency of data flows (logical and physical) throughout the enterprise, and that data are shaped and delivered to the appropriate location to enable the organization to make data-driven business decisions using analytics.
The Information Flow Architect (IFA) is responsible and accountable for the design, development, and implementation of database structure, for understanding the business needs and IT capabilities, and ensuring that the right information is available to the right business unit when required.
The IFA is responsible and accountable for system-level data architecture, governance, processes, and tools across multiple data types (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured) for the enterprise (and/or assigned business unit).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; study how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling; meet with focus groups to prioritize requirements.
Translate business requirements into data structures.
Develop an information flow architecture strategy for the enterprise (and/or assigned business unit) based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.
Evolve data models to meet new and changing business requirements.
Design logical data models for informational and operational systems.
Apply a structured information flow architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise.
Enumerate, analyze, catalog, and suggest improvements to the strategic, core, and support information flow processes of the enterprise (and/or business unit) to support strategic and operational goals.
Define the data elements shared across the enterprise and between business units in the enterprise, as well as with other partners (e.
g.
supply chain partners) and the relationships between those data elements and processes, systems, and other data elements.
Act as a subject matter expert in the development of information flow architecture framework development, tool suite selection, and design and methodology development.
Work with the development and testing team throughout the SDLC lifecycle to ensure user requirements are met in a waterfall or agile methodology.
Create robust data mappings to further define data elements and their movement, in an effort to cleanse, transform and manipulate data to meet user requirements and project scope.
Standardize and implement EDI data solutions to work with the data structures to communicate data throughout to various databases and applications.
Work with development and QA to build, implement and test API specifications for reporting, analytics or other user needs.
Provide robust data testing during development, QA and UAT efforts to further improve data availability and widen the dataset's application.
Required/Preferred Education/Training College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems and/or five to eight years of related work experience is required.
Required/Preferred Experience Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
Demonstrated knowledge of the organization's core business processes and operations, along with the strategic use of technology to grow a business.
Proven experience with business and technical requirements analyses, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
Ability to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate level of detail and focus on the right information.
Extensive experience with developing strategic plans.
Proven experience in systems design and development.
Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
Expert knowledge of programming languages, including Python, SQL, Java, JSON, VBA and more.
Expert knowledge of data and EDI standards including flat file, XML, X12, OpenAPI.
Experience building and implementing data models including the conceptual, logical and physical along with data flow diagrams.
Proven project planning and management experience.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent understanding of data architecture including database and data warehouse design enabling understanding of all processes and components that go into their build and implementation Advanced understanding of EDI and APIs to design, build and test for future information flow work for reporting, analytics, and more.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
