Engineer for Lifting and Handling

Work Description:
o Perform structural analysis of Naval Surface Combatant hull structure utilizing Finite Element Analysis methods as well as traditional hand calculation techniques involving application of shipbuilding industry standards and requirements
o Apply engineering judgment, experience, analytical skills, and applicable rules to complete structural trade studies and generate arrangements of temporary structure to support the sections of the ship during construction
o Complete engineering analysis in support of manufacturing methods and tools for ship construction.
Primary efforts center on; lifting and turning of ship units, ship support, as well as jigs and fixtures used in the construction process
Qualifications for the position:
o BS in Civil Engineering (Structural), Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, MS preferred
o Practical experience in Structural engineering and design required
o Minimum of 5 years shipbuilding experience preferred
o Strong leadership and project management skills
o Demonstrated knowledge of structural analysis methods, both traditional hand calculation as well as FEA, especially with software tools; FEMAP, PATRAN, NASTRAN required
o Strong technical writing and communication skills required
o Willingness to work in a shipyard/construction environment, on-board ship pierside or at sea with potential of confined spaces, as well as an office environment
o Demonstrate personal time management capability
o Able to receive US Government DoD security clearance
o Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment
o Selected candidates must have received and passed a TB test within one year of beginning work at company.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
